Friday 23rd June 1.15pm – The coach has left and they are on their way!
All on time so far for 4.00pm arrival
Friday 23rd June
The children are enjoying a good morning. One group is orienteering around the site, and the other group is taking part in Team Tech, using Mecchano to build objects with specific parameters.
Dinner last night was good, lots of chips!
The weather is cloudy and they’ve had a light shower.
They aim to end the mornings activities by 12.00 noon to get in the lunch hall early before departure. The plan is to be on the coach by 1.00pm but this is optimistic, as is a 4.00pm return time. Mrs Fretwell will call again later with an update.
Monday 19th June 1.00pm.
The children have arrived safely. They had lots of fun on the coach and have now unpacked. More information later …
Monday 19th June 2017 (report from Mrs Fretwell)
Thankfully the motorways were clear and we had a clear journey. After stopping for lunch at a service station, we continued onto Kingswood. We arrived at approximately 1pm and had some time to spare before embarking on our first activities: two groups climbed the high ropes and two groups went for an archery session.
The high ropes proved challenging for some, but every child conquered their fears, with some proving absolutely fearless!
The girls proved to be highly successful at archery. Again all children participated and much fun was had by all. Mrs Breading managed to score 10 with one of her arrows, comfortably beating Mr Wallbank!
As this is typed, the children are getting ready for dinner and then we will be holding a mini Olympics to see the day out.
We will try our best to update the website daily, however there is limited internet access here, so please be patient with us.
Tuesday 20th June (report from Mrs Fretwell)
It was much cooler today and we were able to complete all activities comfortably. In the morning all groups conquered their fear of heights by jumping the leap of faith. The children had to climb a tall post and them leap to a trapeze dangling nearby. We are extremely proud of our children as all of them participated, with the majority completing the task.
Next was the low ropes, where teamwork was the key. Children learned key skills such as planning, leadership and resilience to complete the puzzles given by the leaders.
In the afternoon, we all learned some bushcraft, namely lighting a fire with a flint and steel. Again the children displayed great perseverance and most managed to light fires and keep them alight.
Finally, two groups completed a short fencing course, whilst others learned archery.
After a delicious evening meal, we all came together for scrapheap challenge. The challenge was to design a superhero, build the costume on a child and then test the costume using water balloons! Shikha got very wet!
Thursday 22nd June
Mrs Fretwell has phoned to say all is well and the children are happy. Internet is limited but she will try to send us a report later today.
