The curriculum at Emerson Valley School is underpinned by a Teaching and Learning policy.
This gives all children an entitlement to a programme of learning experiences which offers them maximum opportunity for development, takes place in an attractive and efficient environment and is presented in a planned, varied and stimulating way.
Children are taught individually, in groups or as a class. More specialist teaching is used as the children become older.
The curriculum is planned in Key Stages incorporating an annual cycle of history, geography and science topics. The requirements of the National Curriculum are met through both integrated and subject specific approaches which are planned in detail.
Children are mainly taught in mixed ability groups. Visits, visitors and the opportunity for hands on experiences form an integral part of our curriculum.
School visits are an important educational opportunity and include residential visits, as well as a wide range of more local day visits.
