Emerson Valley School

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is vital if children are to make progress both socially and academically.  Please telephone the school on the day of absence, and then write a note on the childs return.  This is a great help to the school.

Our Education Welfare Officer, Sharon Bradey, can be contacted if parents have concerns relating to school attendance.

The EWO visits school regularly and may raise concerns if attendance is irregular.

Holidays

We ask that parents aim to take holidays during the school holiday as holidays in term time disrupts your childrens learning.  If families are taking a holiday in term time they must complete a holiday form, which may be authorised by the Headteacher.  It is essential that all children are in school for the SATs which are in May each year.

Travel

Children should arrive at school at 8.50am.  Prior to 8.50am children remain the responsibility of parents.  Doors open at 8.50am and children should be in class ready for learning at 9.00am.  School finishes at 3.20pm.

Children may cycle to school once they have a bicycle pass (an application form is available from the school office).  They must wear a named helmet and have a bicycle lock.  Bicycles are on school premises at your own risk.  Bicycles must not be ridden on the school premises.

There is always congestion outside the school. We are fortunate to have a dropping off circle and ask parents to use this area with care and consideration. Please could parents not use the staff car park for dropping off or picking up children, and be considerate of local residents and pedestrians.

Dogs should not be brought onto the school premises unless prior arrangements are made with the Headteacher.
