Special visit from Daniel Bingley UK Team Member Invictus Games – Tuesday 22nd January 2019
On Tuesday we had a very special visit from Former Corporal with the British Army, Daniel Bingley, who kindly gave up his time to come and speak to our children during assembly.
Daniel, who is 34 years old, was medically discharged from the army in 2017 and found life incredibly difficult following an injury he sustained. Following on from his discharge Daniel discovered that sport was a remarkable aid in his recovery.
He became a UK Team member during the Invictus Games, organised by Prince Harry, and he competed in six fields – the most of any Team UK athlete; Athletics, Sailing, Sitting Volleyball, Swimming, Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby.
During the assembly Daniel spoke to the children about his experiences at the Games and also about issues relating to Mental Health. He had the important message of never giving up and the children found his talk extremely inspirational.
