The children had an amazing time on Friday 26th May celebrating the 20th anniversary of the official opening of Emerson Valley School. The hall was decorated with bunting made by the children highlighting their favourite memories of EVS. Each class contributed to a time capsule which was buried on the school field by the youngest and the oldest child in the school. Two oak trees and two silver birch saplings were planted representing each year group in the school. Our cake competition was very popular and the chair of Governors and Headteacher had a very difficult job deciding on an overall winner and winners from each year group.
During the afternoon the children enjoyed a performance of ‘Through the Years’ by a very talented EVS cast. They then had time on the field enjoying various activities including giant snakes and ladders, mega 4, an inflatable and ten pin bowling. Parents were invited into school during the later part of the afternoon when they joined their children for cake and watched the spectacular balloon launch. Several of these balloons have been found in Leicestershire and were are excited to find out which one has travelled the furthest.
During the evening previous members of staff and other guests including the Corporate Director of Education for MKC and the Mayor joined existing staff to share memories.
